MicroBusiness

In our world’s way of thinking, socially, economically, politically, militarily, big is often taken as beautiful and highly esteemed. Being big gives power and influence. On the other hand being small is not admirable. It can mean being despised often, marginalized, ignored, exploited and bullied, etc. This is the case in spite of many evils sometimes associated with being big and powerful. Such as abuse of power.

In the business world the big often dominate, bribe, lobby law-makers and bully the small. They are able to so because they have money to spare, which the poor do not have. Big businesses generally trade with their smaller counterparts on the former’s own terms and conditions. This is the case whether the big are buyers or sellers. They dictate both the buying and the selling price as well as credit terms of payment in their own favour, which are often non-negotiable. If they want to do business with them, the small business has no choice but to accept the unfair terms or lose the business. It is the culture of the survival of the fittest. The law of the jungle. Take it or leave it.

In the business world, big businesses often get preferential treatment over smaller ones. It is much harder for a micro business even to open a business bank account and even harder still to raise finance from commercial lenders.

It is harder for small businesses to be awarded big government contracts. Big businesses can bribe some politicians and give big donations to political parties. This makes it easy for them to lobby governments.

To impress others, people often boast about their experience in the corporate world or working in the City of London financial district, regardless of what they were doing there.

Most business books that I have read have been authored by writers who worked in the corporate world.

The important role played by Micro business in our economy and socially is never fully appreciated. But the truth of the matter is that most big corporations started their lives as Micro Business. And big businesses can not survive without the services and patronage of micro businesses.

Despising Micro business is like despising babyhood, or childhood, where we all started from. Because of our mindset, and because they are vulnerable and helpless, children are often neglected, abandoned, abused, even by their own natural parents.

The important role played by Micro Businesses

  • They are nurseries of most big businesses. At some point in their history, they started small.
  • They provide essential services to big businesses and the public sector and buy their products and services.
  • They create jobs for their owners, family members and members of the general public.
  • They pay taxes to the state on their taxable incomes. The state uses those taxes to fund public services that we all need.
  • They act as a training school for new start-up owners.
  • They are a testing platform for new products and services.
  • Owners of Micro businesses are generally closer to their customers, or clients and employees. They better understand their needs much better than the impersonal, distant and big corporations.
  • They are generally more agile and responsive to change.
  • They generally do not dictate to those they deal with. They can negotiate.

Micro Businesses are created and run by ordinary people like you and me. The aim of our business is to facilitate and support the formation of Micro Businesses. To train those who are thinking of starting their own, and thus Create their own Work and source of income.
